Skillets Diner

Branding Design

Skillets Diner is a New Jersey-based diner franchise concept that reimagines the nostalgia of mid-20th-century America with a fresh, engaging dining experience.

Developed through cumulative coursework at the University of Louisville, the project explores scalable design systems through a franchise model, emphasizing cohesive storytelling and brand interaction across multiple locations.

The concept draws inspiration from legacy brands like McDonald’s, Steak ’n Shake, and Sonic, aiming to restore the vintage charm and narrative depth that once defined the diner experience. It blends nostalgic imagery with a consistent, modern graphic system to reconnect with that era.

The design system reflects bold, expressive 1950s aesthetics, featuring a skillet-inspired logo, vibrant color palettes, clean sans serif typography, and open, airy layouts. Together, these elements create a relaxed yet visually engaging identity that reinforces the brand’s storytelling.
